Today I took breakfast and went by bus to the Silo Cultural We saw all the houses built by the Caicaras and how they live. Then we ate their typical food and it was very good. After that we listened to the songs of a musician called Luis. In the afternoon our group went to the city to write down a map of the city land use and whether it was used by locals or tourists. When we came back we swam in the pool and prepared ourselves for the disco. Antonio

Yesterday the rap competition was won by Gold group (my group). Today was my birthday. This birthday was definitely the best I’ve ever had! I’m only surprised that my mum and dad allowed me to come and spend my birthday with my friends. The part of my birthday day that I most liked was the disco. I’m a bit homesick but I’m sure I can make it until Friday. Camilla

Today we had our room check. Me and Galvao had 9 out of 10 for our room. Our first activity was Silo Cultural but first we had a photo search and to try to make a word with the letters. At the Silo Cultural we saw a tape of Paraty’s celebrations. After we went to see how flour was made and how houses were made. Next we heard an ‘artezanto’ play his guitar. Finally we ate natural food. Our second activity was mapping skills…. You got it, more walking. All this walking drives me crazy! What we had to do was find out the land-use of the street. Tonight we have the amazing disco. Augustin

Today was the best day till now. In the morning we went to the Silo Cultural. There we learned many things about Paraty’s folklore as well as culture. We ate some delicious home made food. We also saw a film about the religious, folklore and cultural parties. In the afternoon we went through Paraty town and wrote down if the establishments were for locals, tourists or for both. It was fun. When we stopped to rest at the beach, a man told us we needed to get out of there because he was going to chase the wasps that had infested his house out, so we came back to the hotel. Here we jumped in the pool it was great fun! Mariana

Today we went to the gold road. We saw lots of types of trees. It was very cool. After we went to a waterfall, it was very cold but good. After we came back to the hotel and had lunch. In the afternoon we went to look at the inside of the churches and we ate ice cream, it was fabulous! After, we went shopping. I bought two presents, then we came back to the hotel and are going to have dinner now and afterwards the DISCO! Isadora

Today was a fantastic day! In the morning we went to the gold road. We walked a lot there and I got exhausted but still I thought that the trail was beautiful. After this activity we came back to the pousada and had our lunch. Then we did the town trail and answered some really fun questions in our booklets. We also went inside some churches and had to draw a section of each church that we visited. Everybody tried to behave nicely and go quickly in the activities so that we could go swimming and so that s Lynda gave us ice cream. As we behaved nicely Ms Lynda gave us this treat. Afterwards we had dinner and we have a surprise activity later that I hope will be fun. I loved today! Beatriz

Today was a very busy day. We did the town trail, we walked a lot, about 6km. We visited some churches, they were incredibly beautiful. After that we went to the beach which was fun but first we had to do a sketch of a roof. After that we played dodgeball and my team, light blue, won. After that we went into the sea, it was very warm. We played 5 courts, it was very cool. Then we did a sandcastle competition, my team came in 2nd place, but it was fun. Then we came back to the hotel and went to the swimming pool. Then we ate dinner, it was very good. Joao Pedro

Today I really enjoyed the Silo Cultural because I learned a lot about the cultura caicara. I especially liked the singer because he had some really cool songs. The mapping was also fun because I learned a lot about the Paraty land-use. Today the pool was the best thing because we played a lot. Rodrigo.

Second Day

I woke up early today, I was very excited and I was looking forward to our new activity. Bus X (Gold, Yellow and Red) went to the Silo Cultural. Ms Vanda introduced us to the place and explained to us about the caicara culture. Afterwards we had a delicious snack and after that Pipoca (the tour guide) showed us many different things about the caicara culture. We also watched an interesting documentary about the Divino festival and the Paraty city. Zuis Pereque sang some poetic songs about Paraty, the environment etc. After we went to do land-use mapping where each group went to a road to find out about where are tourist points and local points. I really enjoyed my day and hope that tomorrow will be great too. Giovanna.

Second Day

Today the day was marvelous. I woke up early so I wouldn’t be late for the trip. When I arrived at school I was anxious because I would find out my group. I was in the Grey group. The bus was comfortable however it had a smell by the end of the trip. When I arrived in the hotel I had my lunch then we went to the Paraty Fort. There we had a lot of fun activities. In my opinion the most interesting thing to do was the hula-hoop maze. I’m looking forward to the disco.

Gabriel

Today we went to the fort. It was really nice. We did various activities. There we found lots of different trees, birds etc. We did some sketching. I sketched a tree, a very different tree, with lots of branches and it was enormous. In the room we sang Happy Birthday to my friend. On the bus we took 5 hours to get to Paraty. The rooms are very comfortable; we have TV, air-con, a big bathroom and a big sofa. We had a nice dinner but I didn’t eat a lot as I wasn’t hungry. I am sharing the room with 2 marvelous people, Josefina (the birthday girl) and Camilla. I put both of them on my list. I hope the rest of the week will be marvelous.

Isabel.

first day

We had a good day today. The bus journey was spent listening to Mr Woods’ great stories and doing several bus quizzes, like the Star Wars quiz and the Barbie Swan Lake quiz. This afternoon all of the groups had fun working together as a team (to a greater or lesser extent) at being shepherds, parachutists, log traders etc. There were also some very good sketches drawn (not least by Ms Lynda). Tonight we have a lot of tired students (and staff) so I’m sure we will all sleep well.

Mr Woods.
